Today I completed the 27th Proton Beam and as known from the accumulation of radiation the skin on my ear & neck is starting to burn and the pain level is intensifying. It’s all part of the treatment impact and I knew it going in so there is no surprise here. To be forwarned is to be forearmed!

The Oncology nurse recommended that I double down on Tylenol and break the pain cycle before I consider higher impact pain medications which have even more undesirable side effects.

It’s the double down & break the cycle that captured my thoughts today.

Lets say double down is another way of saying “just put more effort into it” and break the cycle is “breaking an unproductive habit”.

Where do we need to just put a little bit more effort into stopping something that is just not productive or not getting the results you are looking for?

Where does this apply in our lives? For me it’s in many places which is why I’m writing about it!

In the commitment of lifetime learning, sometimes a metaphor like this can trigger some new thinking for better outcomes.

It reminds me of a quote from Samuel Johnson, “Sometimes we just need to be reminded, not instructed.”

Remindingly yours, Bob
