Greetings to the wonderful friends in my life!

This Wed will be the 6 week anniversary of the last Proton Beam treatment and I’m a bit surprised it’s still kicking my ass! Hey Cyclotron you are one powerful machine!!!

I’ve been sitting in the screened in porch burning firewood, talking to Barb and working on my book. I depend on the contents from my journals so I’ve been going through them looking for juicy content.

Tonight I finished journal #64 and tomorrow will be the first recording of something important (or maybe something silly) into journal #65.

As I reviewed the contents of journal #63 & #64 which is mostly about being in Boston going through radiation & chemo, there are 3 recorded observations I would like to share:

1. Crooked Smile Perspective
Every day I look in the mirror and see a man with 1/2 a face that still does not work. It’s OK because I’m reminded of a relevant quote from Phyllis Diller: “A smile is a curve that sets everything straight”. It no longer bothers me when people stare because they will never know what Barb and I went through. My smile is a one way curve and just fine…it’s just a bit off right now!

2. Perspective on Healing
“Healing does not mean the damage never existed…it means that the damage no longer controls our lives.” One of the great lessons of adversity is to make sure that you control it and that it does not control you. I’m a better listener with 1 ear than I was with 2- go figure!

3. James had it so right on trials & tribulations
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance” ~ James 1:2-6

The new formula for success in the balance of 2018 is 33% perseverance, 33% positivity and 34% love.

Thanks for the ongoing prayers!

Bob
