Is there a current perspective on something you need to shift?

I included this question as an intended poke at our current thinking that may no longer be relevant in our rapidly changing world. When I read this question it reminds me of a quote from Alvin Toffler which is one of the 12 reflective quotes in my customer leadership reflections journal on page 160.

“The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read but those who cannot learn, unlearn and relearn.”

So it is in these 3 categories I reflect upon as I answer today’s question.

I’m learning that reading about things other than leadership books will help me develop more rounded perspectives. I’m currently reading THE GENE by Siddhartha Mukherjee and I’m learning a lot about DNA and mapping the human genome.

I have to unlearn about always wanting to go to Web-MD to self diagnosis what the medical tests and Dr’s are telling me. I’ve learned when I do this it only exacerbates the anxiety and most of the time really does not provide the context I’m looking for so I really have to stop.

I really have to relearn social media and how it has rapidly expanded in the past 3 years. It’s actually a bit intimidating with all of the apps, social media platforms, acronyms  and knowing what to use. I am so grateful to have a terrific mentor in this space who really helps me out! Thanks Sam!

So for you who are reading this blog, what do you need to learn, unlearn and relearn?

Reflectively Yours,
